S

SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY

The revolutionary engineering platform behind Mazda SUVs and passenger cars that offers greater performance while using less fuel.

Learn more.

SKYACTIV-X M Hybrid engine

The revolutionary SKYACTIV-X engine, available in Mazda3 and CX-30, is the world’s first commercial gasoline engine to run on compression ignition. Using innovative technology, Mazda has combined the power of a high-revving gasoline engine and the fuel efficiency of a diesel. Skyactiv-X burns petrol more efficiently thanks to our Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI). It makes more power but produces fewer emissions and uses less fuel than a regular petrol engine for an even better drive without compromise. When you decelerate, the integrated starter motor generator produces electricity which is stored in a 24-volt battery and deployed as needed. The M Hybrid component is our innovative evolution of hybrid car technology, capturing and storing energy in a lithium ion battery. This is then used to power electrical systems and provide additional torque. Unlike a plug-in hybrid, or a conventional hybrid, no plug or charging is required.

Learn more >

SKYACTIV-G Petrol Engine

Mazda's highly-efficient direct-injection gasoline engine that achieves the world's highest gasoline engine compression ratio of 14.0:1.

Learn more >

SKYACTIV-D Diesel Engine

With the world’s lowest diesel-engine compression ratio, this clean, highly-efficient diesel engine will comply with strict exhaust gas regulations globally without the aid of expensive NOx (nitrogen oxides) aftertreatment systems. It offers up to 20% more efficiency than previous diesel engines.

SBS aims to help the driver avoid or reduce the severity of collisions, particularly when driving at mid- to high speeds (between 15 km/h and 145 km/h), by automatically applying the brake if there is a danger of collision. The addition of the Rear Crossing function means the system also works when in reverse, alerting you of traffic approaching from either side.

Learn more >

Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)

Also known as: Auto Emergency Braking (AEB)

SCBS monitors the vehicle in front or behind to assess the likelihood of a collision. If there is a high risk, the system will warn you and brake automatically if needed.
