The exhibition explores seven key periods in Western European art history. From the Italian Renaissance, Dutch painting of the Golden Age, Van Dyck and British portraiture, the Grand Tour, Spanish art from the seventeenth century, landscape and the picturesque, all the way up to the birth of modern art.
What makes the exhibition even more exceptional is the fact that it’s also the largest group of works ever to travel abroad in the history of the National Gallery London, making this opportunity such a unique, Australian first and even more important to what drives Mazda.
Carol Henry, Chief Executive of Art Exhibitions Australia, said as the first car company to sponsor exhibitions in Australia, Mazda’s long commitment to the visual arts is unprecedented.
“Mazda’s sponsorship has been invaluable in supporting the arts, the creative life blood of our country. The sponsorship of exhibitions is a highly effective way to enable Australia to participate in major international and brings exceptional collections to our shores.”
