Award-winning Mazda BT-50 recognised as the best four-cylinder ute for towing and performance in Australia
Australians love utes. And with good reason – they’re hugely practical forms of transport to traverse the endlessly varied terrains of our land Down Under.
A vehicle that can go anywhere and tow almost anything is more than just a utility, though. It’s a gateway to everything this country has to offer, on or off the beaten track.
Drivers from all walks of life depend on these special vehicles day in and day out, whether for work, play or both.
But what makes a good ute?
While that age-old question could be debated in perpetuity, fundamentally, a combination of practicality and performance is key to a ute’s success when the going gets tough.
It comes as little surprise then that the Mazda BT-50 has just been recognised by a panel of journalists from leading automotive publication, CarExpert, as the Best Towing Ute (four-cylinder) and Best Performance Ute (four-cylinder) of 2023.
Among a strong field of contenders, CarExpert judges recognised the BT-50’s prodigious yet frugal 3.0-litre turbo diesel motor and sweet chassis set-up as a segment beater for towing.
“It's easy to assume the biggest is always the best when it comes to towing, but the BT-50 and D-Max duo showed us that a well-sorted drivetrain and suspension package offers towing power and excellent fuel economy,” a CarExpert representative said.
CarExpert judges were also mightily impressed with the BT-50’s braking performance, which stopped up shorter than any other car in class.
“Our performance test highlighted the level of thought put into the BT-50 and D-Max's braking packages. They were at the top of the pile for braking performance even in damp conditions, an important item for anybody buying a dual-cab ute today."
The Mazda BT-50’s proven features and benefits have made it a household name in Australia, and these latest accolades only solidify its place as a paragon of the ute segment.
So, if You Do Ute, make it a Mazda BT-50.
